Grant Money for Fire Mitigation and Home Fire Hardening:
ReCover CA - California Department of Housing & Community Development - is offering homeowners with home-hardening (Home hardening makes a home more resistant to heat, flames, and embers, but it doesn't make it fireproof) and/or defensible space needs. Defensible space includes creating a buffer zone around a home, one that is free of any vegetation or other combustible materials, and includes instead non-combustible materials like pea gravel and hardscape.
Funding is due to the 2020 CZU Fire. Application window closes APRIL 15, 2025. Due to the Federal government turmoil, please apply ASAP.
Our neighborhood does qualify. It does not matter when you purchased your home and if your home is owner occupied or not.
Funding is based on household income.

Spring No-Cost Chipping OPENS APRIL 1
The RCD of Santa Cruz County No-Cost Spring Chipping registration opens April 1st. The program is available to Santa Cruz County residents who live in areas, defined as the Wildland Urban Interface, that have the potential for wildfire to impact their properties.
